Think About a Rhetorical Essay Structure When Writing Blog Content

One of the best lessons I’ve learned is to write blog content by analyzing what others have written before me in my niche. This reminds me of when I use to write rhetorical essays in school because it would involve breaking down the words of the author, and understanding the style to see what attracts readers.
For this reason, my lesson today is how to write a rhetorical essay to improve your content writing skills.
In high school, you’ll be asked to write a rhetorical essay for the first time. It can be a confusing time because this does require some real thinking. For example, for you to first write a rhetorical essay, you need to know what it is so here is a quick definition –
In this type of essay, you are breaking down the words of the writer (author) to analyze the style they use to get a response from the reader. A good example is to break down a presidential speech to better understand how they mesmerize the crowd. These essays are great at capturing the reader’s attention, and allows the writer to dig deeper into their creative side. However, as mentioned, a rhetorical essay does require different type of research, and knowing helpful pointers in writing one is always a bonus. Here are my top 4 pointers when writing a rhetorical essay, and how to write a critical analysis essay. Let’s get started.

Purpose

Before you can start writing, you should know and understand the purpose of your essay. You should have a well thought out topic which will not only be enticing, but provide value to the reader. I believe, you should also let the reader know the purpose of your essay is in the format of a rhetorical essay. I recommend doing depth research before getting started, and writing on a trending topic. You can use Google search or trends to find what’s hot and what people are interested in reading. When writing this type of essay, you want to choose a topic you are passionate about because this just makes your writing easier.

Introduction

Most of your time will be devoted to the body paragraphs where you’ll be explaining the text, you should make your introduction shot and right to the point. I recommend the following:
Start by summarizing the main argument of the speaker or the script because this will prove to the reader that you understand the main message. It’s recommend that you state what is “exactly said “in the script you are analyzing, and how it’s said to create your own thesis statement. Remember, you should keep the introduction short and right to the point, and write just enough so the reader knows what your trying to portray within your writing.

Coherency

When writing your essay, it’s important to follow a smooth writing pattern. With this pattern, you’ll make your essay easier to read, and keep it from becoming too cluttered. It’s important to not jump from one point to another, but ease the reader into your next thought with smooth language. Do a quick search in Google to find more resources on how to write content with proper coherency, and flow.

Strong Conclusion

I can’t stress how important this is because this space should be used to summarize your entire point again. You’ve listed the purpose, explained it, and it’s time to reiterate how your point was proven. Remember, you are analyzing script and/or text so it should be done in a way where you’ll breakdown each sentence to explain the meaning. In the conclusion, you will provide proof on how you supported your purpose, and the core meaning of the essay. This should be longer than your introduction, and should be another chance to explain the main meaning of your essay.

Final Thoughts

A rhetorical essay can be tough for first timers because it involves analyzes of the script. However, thanks to the internet, you have several resources available to you which will guide you through the entire process of writing. Get started now by doing a quick search in Google, and going through the information on rhetorical essays online.
